Abstract:

Collection of studio portraits relating to the Dunlap and Butler families, an African American family (of Oakland, Calif.?) Includes studio portratis of men, women and children. Also includes a commemorative card photograph captioned "California tribute to the Nation's hero, Gen. U.S. Grant"; published on the occassion of the 1886 Memorial Day, shows a train car with a banner portraying Gen. Grant.
